TWIN ENGINE MEDIUM BOMBER/GROUND ATTACK

OVERVIEW

The B-25H model addressed the short comings of the B-25G. In the nose, the main 75mm M-4 cannon was replaced by a lighter 75mm T13E-1 cannon and two additional .50 caliber machine guns were added to the original two. Two .50 caliber machine gun blisters were added to either side of the cockpit. The upper turret was moved forward and the lower turret was deleted, instead two flexible .50 caliber machine guns, firing through a window on either side of the aircraft was added. Also a tail gunner position was added with a seated gunner operating a pair of .50 caliber machine guns housed in a powered turret. The added fire power brought the total number of guns to 14 .50 caliber guns, 10 of which could be trained forward for a straffing run along with the 75mm cannon.
